Gerontology in Singapore

Gerontology: The scientific study of old age, the process of ageing, and the particular problems of old people.

I started my gerontology journey in July 2014, simply to gain knowledge on how to take care of my parents and how to be more effective towards the older adults under my befriending in Whampoa.

Throughout the course, I've learnt a lot in the different areas of gerontology: lifespan development and psychology of ageing, physiology and healthcare, ageing in multicultural context, research, policy settings, programme planning and evaluation, financial planning. The recent topics of dementia, end-of-life topics have been an eye opener to me.

To be or not to be, that is the next question for me.....
